Georgetown is a quiet community in the town of Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada and is part of the Regional Municipality of Halton. The town includes several small villages or settlements such as Norval, Limehouse, Stewartown and Glen Williams near Georgetown as well as another large population centre, Acton, Ontario. In 2016, the population of Georgetown was 42,123. It is situated on the Credit River, located approximately 60 km west of Toronto, making it part of the Greater Toronto Area. Georgetown has become a very popular GTA community to raise a familydue to great sports and liesure programs, schools and the amount of greenspace for hiking, biking and walking.

Downtown (The "Park Area") Georgetown:

 

Founded in 1823, Georgetown has been a vibrant centre for almost two centuries since settled by George Kennedy. Ideally located on the Credit River, mills and foundries sparked great growth and innovation and gave rise to other communities including Glen Williams, Norval, Stewarttown, Hornby & Ballinafad.


While Georgetown has changed over the years it remains an ideal community for families and business. Close to highways, commuter lines, nature trails and with proximity to Mississauga and Brampton, Georgetown offer great variety and healthy living alternatives to busier city environments.

Downtown Georgetown and the Park Area have renewed popularity thanks to many new stores, restaurants, cafes and the new Halton Public Library. Homes on Park St., Edith St., Charles St., Mill St., Church St., and Market St. are attracting those interested in the convenience of being close to parks (Georgetown Fairgrounds) and shopping and are being renovated and updated with new charm.

Delrex:


The Delrex Neighbourhood, on the East side of Georgetown, was originally an Orchard/Farm area and in the 1950's Rex Heslop a businessman and developer transformed the area.  This Neighbourhood is one of Georgetown's most established communities & local amenities include the Georgetown Market Place Mall, Mould Masters Sports-Plex & Skate Park, Cedarvale Park & Leash free Dog Park.  With tree lined streets & larger lots, types of homes found in this area range from Bungalows, sidesplits, backsplits, 2 storey & semi detached.

 





Trafalgar Country:

 

Located just south-east of the Trafalgar Rd & Hwy #7 intersection in Georgetown, Trafalgar Country is a community of over 600 detached, semi and townhome homes built primarily by Beaverbrook and Silverbrook Homes between 2000 and 2006. Wide lots, curved streets, a large park and access to ravine trail are what make this area desirable for new and growing families. Plus, access to main roadways, Georgetown Hospital and Downtown Georgetown make Trafalgar Country a convenient location.

Stewart's Mill is one of Georgetown's newer sub-divisions and is located between Trafalgar Rd. and Main Street S., with 15th Sideroad on the southern border and a natural green space to the north. Hiking Trails:

Hiking in South Georgetown has never been better. The Town of Halton Hills has been developing the hiking trails in Hungry Hollow over the past years with new bridges, boardwalks and limestone screening paths. The new Regan Ridge bridge is a 43.5m pedestrian bridge that will connect two major trails in Hungry Hollow. The Town has plans to develop the trail system right through to Cedarvale Park which will provide for direct access to Downtown Georgetown.
